Acer might collaborate with Verizon Wireless for Netbooks

Acer created the hot market of netbooks and they are now considering collaborating with wireless service providers in the US market to sell netbooks along with service contracts.

They are already in such a deal with AT&T and they now want to expand on that front.

The company added that they are not considering launching netbooks with Google Android mobile platform for now as it is not yet prepared for the mainstream use on computers.

They are however considering using Android on some of their upcoming smartphone models.

A company representative said: “For a Netbook, you really need to be able to view a full Web for the total Internet experience. And Android is not that yet.”

Several personal computer makers have said that they are testing Android platform for cheap netbooks. But no definite launch plans have been revealed.
