HTC Hero and Samsung Moment to get Android 2 in June next year

Sprint Nextel has revealed that they would only release the Android 2 update for their existing smartphones HTC Hero and Samsung Moment in the first half of next year.

These updates could be delivered as late as June 2010.

incidentally, Verizon is already selling their Droid smartphone with Android 2.0 platform. And they are working on delivering the first update to this platform (2.0.1).

The rumored Google Phone is said to be powered with Android 2.1.

All these different versions are now highlighting the problems users would face with their Android powered devices.

If you buy an handset now, you might be stuck with the version that comes loaded in it for a long time.

Google has been focusing on releasing newer devices with exclusive access to the latest edition of the Android platform.

Incidentally, we already have devices being sold in the market which comes with following Android versions:

Android 1.5
Android 1.6
Android 2.0
