.post exclusive for global postal services

ICANN has announced that they have approved a new top level domain name .post.

Dot Post would be made available exclusively to postal services around the world.

The managing rights for this domain name is now with UN’s Universal Postal Union.

They would be setting the rules on which organization can apply for this type of domain name.

Universal Postal Union spoke about the new developments: “People who access a .post site will immediately recognize it as belonging to a valid postal service or provider of postal services.”

It added: “Postal services will explore new frontiers and basically go where no postal services have gone before.”

ICANN is hoping to have these new domain names online before the end of next year.
