Google Android powered smartphones today have pretty impressive cameras. But we are yet to see a dedicated camera powered by Google Android platform.
Nikon might just launch something like this. Online sources are talking about a new model named Coolpix S800 that could be powered by Android mobile OS.
Reports say that this device could feature:
25-250 mm lens
3.5″ OLED screen
The camera runs all Google Play apps
The camera will probably run Android 2.3
Built-in GPS
Built-in Wi-Fi
It is expected to be announced sometime later this month.
Nikon could use this as a test platform for their future devices and maybe someday we might have DSLRs with Android integrated in them.
You ask what is the point? I guess it would be nice to have the ability to share photos and videos right from the camera using wireless connectivity!
