Nissan to start manufacturing diesel engines in India

Japanese automaker Nissan has revealed that they plan to start manufacturing their diesel engines here in India itself to increase the localization in their models on sale here.

Diesel is become a popular fuel option for new automobile buyers because it is much cheaper than petrol.

Nissan to start manufacturing diesel engines in India

The company said: “We plan to make diesel engines at our plant here so that the level of localization of all our vehicles goes up to 80 percent. The investment in the diesel plant will be part of our overall investment of around Rs. 4,500 crore.”

Nissan has collaborated with their global partner Renault to establish a huge manufacturing plant in India near Chennai.

They are already manufacturing petrol engines in India… Local manufacturing of diesel engines would help them in becoming more competitive on the price front with their models on sale in India.
