ZTE Strengthens LTE R&D Team, Involves 2,000 Experts

Company to showcase FDD-LTE and TD-LTE prototype solutions at
P&T/Expo Comm China 2008

20 October 2008, New Delhi, India - ZTE Corporation (“ZTE”), a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, is showcasing a whole range of LTE prototype solutions at the P&T/Expo Comm China 2008, the most influential IT and communication event in Beijing, China from 21 – 25 October. The company is highlighting at the show its commitment to contribute in the industry’s alternative to migrate from 3G to LTE technology.

In line with its commitment to develop LTE solutions, the company continues to inject investments in FDD-LTE and TD-LTE development initiatives by the talents of 2,000 experienced engineers specializing in GSM/CDMA and 3G technology at its R&D facility. For TD-LTE alone, ZTE has hired some 900 R&D staff to join the task force.

The company is investing 6 billion RMB to build a new R&D facility and production base in Xi’an, China that will primarily be focused on research initiatives on post-3G technology developments and creating new LTE solutions for its handset business, demonstrating the company’s determination in helping the industry smoothly migrate into the next-generation communications era.

Backed by a large pool of R&D experts and injection of significant R&D funds, ZTE is aimed at achieving its goal of developing and commercializing FDD-LTE solutions in the second half of 2009, and TD-LTE by 2010, both on a small scale.

At the P&T/Expo, ZTE will demonstrate an FDD/LTE prototype and TD-LTE solutions among other advanced communications equipment and products portfolio. It will also showcase an FDD/TDD fusion solution developed using the world’s leading SDR software base station.

“Although the solutions are still in prototype, we are participating at P&T/Expo to give the industry a preview on some of the development initiatives our strong R&D team are doing in terms of LTE technology.
