Readability killing publisher payment program

Readability has announced that they are killing their publisher payment program.

The company said that they simply did not get as many applications as they had liked from web publishers around the world.

Their users however paid for subscriptions. A large part of that money is still unclaimed.

Readability said that they are going to wait for another month for the publishers to sign up and see if they have any unclaimed funds.

After that period, they would donate the money to non-profit organizations.

The company said:

We don’t want that money. It was meant to support writing. And the feedback we’ve gotten from our audience tells us that’s what they want it to do, too.
