Samsung disabling local search from Google search bar in Galaxy S III

Samsung disabling local search from Google search bar in Galaxy S III

Samsung rolled out an update for their Galaxy S III smartphone on the Sprint network in the US market yesterday.

The company highlighted it as a security update. there were no details given.

However, it has been confirmed now that the update disabled local searching from the Google search bar on the device.

This is probably related to the recent ban on Samsung Galaxy Nexus based on a court ruling. Apple has claimed that local searching from the Google Search Bar infringed upon their owned patents.

Google is already in the process of disabling local searching from the search bar in Jelly Bean update for Galaxy Nexus. Samsung seems to be doing it to avoid a ban on their S III smartphone.
