Samsung Galaxy S II on AT&T getting Android Ice Cream Sandwich update

AT&T has finally announced the Google Android ICS update for the aging Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone.

It has taken them a pretty long time to release this update considering Ice Cream Sandwich was announced last year in October.

The update is apparently not being delivered over the air. AT&T is advising users to use the Samsung Kies Upgrade Program to update their devices to the latest Android edition.

AT&T spoke about the update:

ICS takes the customer experience many steps forward by making navigation more intuitive with faster user interface and browsing. The many new features include an enhanced Recent Apps shortcut to ease multitasking, new lock/unlock features including Face Unlock, improved home screen folders, a new notifications bar and an app to help you track your data usage.
