Samsung and Intel are two of the major partners in the Tizen mobile operating system project.
And Samsung is likely to be the first manufacturer to launch a device powered by it.
There is one irony though. This device is unlikely to be based on an Intel processor as it is currently designed to run on ARM platform.
The first generation devices are likely to be budget segment models as it would find few takers in the premium segment where Android and iOS devices are more favored.
Remains to be seen how long before we see Tizen based devices on sale in the market.
Tizen is the successor to MeeGo which was discarded by Nokia last year.
