Skype now selling Skype Cards in Mexico for consumers without a credit card

Skype is targeting consumers in Mexico with Skype Cards that would be sold through offline retail channels.

The company said that they decided to take this route because credit cards are not very popular in the country.

These cards would be sold through local retailing chains like El Palacio de Hierro, 7 Eleven, RadioShack and Best Buy.

Skype spoke about the available options:

Skype Cards will be sold in two denominations: our $100 pesos card offers a monthly calling plan for unlimited calls to landlines and mobile phones in the USA, while our $150 pesos card provides a Skype Credit balance for calls to telephone numbers in over 170 countries paying per minute and any other Skype paid-for products such as group video calling.
