Sony PlayStation Vita might be the most powerful handheld gaming console in the market today but it is not doing very well.

High price is of course one of the many reasons for the low sales. Vita is at the fourth spot in Sony’s home market. Nintendo 3DS dominates the market followed by Sony PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable.

Sony however has said that the sales are as per their own expectations and consumers who have gone for the Vita are highly satisfied with it.

Remains to be seen if this is going to work for them in the longer run. They need the sales to make the device profitable. Nintendo benefitted a lot by dropping the price tag on their 3DS console. Sony would have to eventually follow the same strategy.
