Sony releases binaries for the LT26i project started by Jean-Baptiste Queru

Jean-Baptiste Queru is the technical lead for the Google’s Android Open-Source Project.

He recently started an experimental project to develop a vanilla Android build for the Sony Xperia S smartphone.

Sony has responded by releasing the binaries required for this project. The company said:

Following the announcement of the LT26i project based on the latest version of AOSP, which we think is a really nice project, we want to give the project our support. Björn Andersson, who is one of our senior engineers, will take lead from our side to help review and contribute patches to this project.

This is a good development as Sony is encouraging an open source ROM for their smartphones.
