Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has admitted in a statement that the sales of their Surface Tablet PC have been modest.

The company is scheduled to launch the more powerful version Surface Pro that would ship with Windows 8 (instead of Windows RT) in the coming months.

Only then we would find out if Windows 8 based Tablets have a sizeable demand in the market.

Microsoft Surface face competition from all sides. Apple iPad dominates the market. Google Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 have turned out to be solid competitors. Amazon Kindle Fire has also taken a sizeable portion of this market.
