You now get the ability to select any grid of cells just like in a desktop app.
Google Docs also now makes it easy to copy paste data into table cells. You
Google has already removed this functionality on regular Google Accounts. They are set to remove it from Google Apps accounts as well.
Users would no longer be able to export their stored documents in the older Office file formats.

Google has just rolled out discussion functionality on their Spreadsheets app in Google Drive.
This feature is already available in the word processor and presentation apps.
