And this is hurting them bad. Honda City is no longer the hottest sedan in the market. Honda Jazz has been largely a failure. Honda Brio is not a blockbuster either.

The company has admitted that there is high demand for diesel engine powered cars in India and they are working on it. In addition they are also planning to expand their presence in the small car market for growth.

Honda India said: “We are aware of the petrol price increase in India but we consider that as a sign of growth in the Indian market… definitely we are currently developing diesel engine cars.”

Honda is currently struggling with raw materials for their models sold in India because of recent floods in Thailand. Production levels are pretty low at the moment.

They are also going to face similar problems with Jazz in the coming days and its production might also get halted.

The company is currently working hard to get the parts from other markets like China and Japan to resume the production in India.

Honda said that they would continue to make small number of units to keep the plants operational in the meantime.

Honda India said: “We are looking at China and Japan very keenly. We hope to firm up things soon and return to normalcy in the coming months, though nothing can be confirmed as of now.”
