Tata Nano was supposed to be the blockbuster that would crush the domination of Maruti in the Indian small car market.
However, it never happened. The launch was heavily delayed and the final pricing made it a not so lucrative purchase compared to second hand Maruti/Hyundai cars in the market.
The company has not given up though. They continue to refine the model and are still hoping that it would do well in the Indian market.
While we wait for the diesel edition of Nano to launch in India, Tata has said that they are hoping to sell 2 lakh units of Nano in India this year.
