Automattic has finally released their new default theme Twenty Twelve for download.

This theme would come preloaded in the next major update of WordPress.

If you want to run it right away, you can download it from their website.

They have made the theme compatible with the current stable edition.

The theme looks beautiful and features a responsive design which means you do not have to install a mobile theme separately.
