Twitter CEO Dick Costolo has said again that they are aiming to offer a tool to all their users for downloading their entire tweets archive if they want to.

Data liberation has become an important topic for social networks like Twitter. Google in fact has an entire team dedicated on this who works on their Takeout service.

Costolo said that the entire project is very complicated because the service is currently aimed at real time delivery and search of tweets.

Twitter is also growing at a phenomenal pace. They are seeing almost 3 billion new tweets on a weekly basis which also makes this project complicated.

It would be interesting to see when it finally launches and what format they would support for export purpose.
