Twitter has been making headlines for their recent statements which hinted that they might block third party apps to access their network.

The company has now come out with detailed updates on what exactly they are planning to do to ‘preserve’ the Twitter ecosystem.

With Twitter API 1.1, every request to their servers would have to be authenticated.
They are going to rate limit the access to their API based on number of end points.
Developers of third party apps would have to comply with their display guidelines.
Pre-installed Twitter apps on devices would have to be approved by them.
Developers of apps that are used by 100,000 users or more would have to work with them.

These API changes are likely to force a lot of developers to rethink their strategies about working on apps connected to their platform.
