Twitter has been joining some high profile open source organizations. After joining W3C recently, they are now expected to join The Linux Foundation.

Sources say that an official announcement can come next week at the LinuxCon North America event.

Twitter is not involved directly in the development of Linux of course but it is probably one of the major driving forces behind the scene.

Twitter is also involved in development of open source technology that runs on Linux servers.
