Twitter for Android and iOS updated with photo streams and profile header image. Third party image sharing services removed.

Twitter has released updated edition of mobile apps for both Google Android and Apple iOS devices.

This is a major update with two new enhancements…

Twitter for Android and iOS updated with photo streams and profile header image. Third party image sharing services removed.

Twitter user profiles are being updated with header images. This is similar to what Facebook and Google+ already offer. In addition to a profile image, you can now pick a header image as the background of your profile image. Currently, you can upload a header image from your mobile devices.

Twitter has also added support for photo streams on these apps. You can now check out photos shared by a user by going to their profile. This feature is available on their web edition and now it has been rolled out through their mobile apps.

Twitter said:

New profiles now feature header photos so you can express who you are more meaningfully on Twitter. Photo streams for profiles display the images people have shared on Twitter.

And as rumored, both of these updated apps now default to Twitter’s own photo sharing service. Option to switch to other services has been removed.
