Twitter has just announced that they are supporting and joining the World Wide Web Consortium.

This is a good development as they have become a major force on the internet and are involved in several open source projects.

The company said:

today we are excited to support and join the @w3c, to start we plan on collaborating in the areas of security, mobile and web components
