Twitter seems to have silently updated their web app on Twitter.com. They are no longer showing the client name used for posting individual tweets.

This is not shocking as they recently removed this same information on their official mobile apps.

The company has been tightening their API restricting access to third party apps emphasizing their own official apps and web platform.

Client name connected to tweets was one of the few incentives developers had for creating apps for Twitter.

Looks like Twitter has just killed that incentive at least on platforms they control. Remains to be seen if they would remove this functionality from their API as well.
