Wal-Mart has become the first international retailing giant to announce plans to open their retail store for consumers in the Indian market.

The US based company is going to start opening their stores within the next 1.5 years.

Wal-Mart already has wholesale stores operating in the country in collaboration with Bharti.

Indian government has just changed the rules allowing international companies to have majority stake in multi-brand stores in the country.

This has caused major criticism for the government though has cheered the retail industry.
