The Washington Post might be close to acquiring Digg

Digg has failed to recover from the disaster that their version 4 turned out to be. Reddit took over the title of the web’s most popular discussion platform.

The service continues to operate even though co-founder Kevin Rose has moved on. He recently joined Google in fact!

Online sources are now reporting that The Washington Post is close to acquiring the service. It would be interesting to see how much Digg sells for considering they have raised around USD 45 million till date and are unlikely to be very profitable.

Assuming that the rumors are true, we should get a confirmation from The Washington Post in the coming days!
