Yahoo plans to kill or merge 50 of their properties

Yahoo has announced plans to kill or merge 50 of their properties.

The basic idea is to streamline their products and services to a more manageable number.

Funny enough, even Google followed a similar strategy last year to focus on fewer things that were doing well for them.

Yahoo has been struggling to compete against the growing competition from Google, Facebook and Microsoft and focusing on more profitable entities is likely to increase margins while lowering the revenues by a bit.

They have not however revealed which properties are going to be shut down. Flickr is unlikely to be one of them though.
