Yamaha has launched their first scooter model in the Indian market. Yamaha Ray is powered with an 113cc engine and is priced at Rs. 46000.

The Japanese automaker has been selling bikes in the Indian market until now.

The company added that they are now working on setting up their third manufacturing unit in Chennai in the country.

They already have a unit each in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

Yamaha added that they are aiming to boost sales to 1 million units by 2014 and 2.8 million units by 2018.

They would need to launch a range of new models if they want to achieve this kind of growth.
