Google seems to have rolled out a brand new video player on their YouTube platform.

The new design looks contemporary. Reminds us of the design theme they are adopting with Android.

It is completely flat in nature though all the features remains the same. Looks good. Here is a sample embed which also has the similar design:

Update: YouTube might be in the process of rolling it out to everyone. Or it could be a limited test!
