What your IP address reveals

A public IP exposes your rough location (city/region, not your street), your internet provider, and whether you are on a VPN or proxy. Websites use it for geolocation, fraud checks and rate-limiting. It does not reveal your name or exact address on its own.

Shows your IP and details the moment the page loads.

  • Features 7/10

Shows your public IP plus approximate location, ISP and the headers your browser sends.

Your public IP address is the unique number your connection presents to the web. This tool shows it instantly, along with your approximate location, ISP and the headers your browser sends. Nothing is stored.

How to hide your IP address

A VPN replaces your IP with the VPN server's, masking your location and ISP from the sites you visit. Tor does the same across multiple hops. Both stop a site reading your real IP — useful on public Wi-Fi or to avoid location-based blocks.

FAQ

What is the difference between a public and a private IP address?Your public IP is the address your router shows to the internet and is what websites see, while private IPs (like 192.168.x.x) are used only inside your home network. This tool shows your public IP; private addresses are visible only in your device settings.
Why does my IP location not match my exact address?IP geolocation is approximate, often resolving to your internet provider hub or city rather than your street, because it maps the provider, not your house. It is useful for a general region but is not a precise locator.
Why do I see both an IPv4 and an IPv6 address? Many connections now support both protocols, so your provider may assign an older 32-bit IPv4 address and a newer IPv6 address at the same time. Sites can reach you on either, which is why both can appear.
Does this page store my IP address? No. It shows your public IP, approximate location, provider, and the headers your browser sends, without storing any of it. The lookup is just reflected back to you and not retained.
